Supported by Art Bridges’ Partner Loan Network, the Wichita Art Museum launched an exhibition of iconic Pop art, featuring works from its own permanent collection alongside works on loan from the Whitney Museum of American Art. Interactive activities supplemented the exhibition, allowing the museum to engage a new age group and expand its audience.

About

Mexican environmentalist Agar Garcia discusses the therapeutic potential of nature and explores the spiritual healing power of the herbs rue, rosemary and basil. Participants learn about traditional medicine through herbolary, as well as beliefs found in Latin-American countries, and how access to nature impacts mental and spiritual health. This virtual program is presented in spanish with brief summaries in English accessible via direct zoom link or facebook.

Intended Outcome

HRM hoped to present this program in Spanish and English, expanding their audience widely, and promoting to Hispanic and Latin American audiences in New York and Mexico, and to those interested in natural and spiritual healing and its intersection with the arts. They planned to collect data about attendance and examine anecdotal observations of audience make-up and engagement via questions and comments on the livestream.

HRM aimed to present this program in both Spanish and English, broadening their audience and reaching Hispanic and Latin American communities in New York and Mexico, as well as those interested in the intersection of natural and spiritual healing with the arts. They planned to gather data on attendance and analyze anecdotal observations of audience demographics and engagement through questions and comments on the livestream.

HRM Captivates Post-COVID Audiences Eager for New Ideas, Creative Perspectives, and Deeper Connections

HRM successfully attracted audiences hungry for access to new ideas and creative perspectives and whose worlds had shrunk during COVID-19. They welcomed audiences who were eager to share their insights and happy to develop closer relationships with the themes, artworks, and underlying messages conveyed by artists whose work was on view in their exhibitions and programs.

Delaware ArtMuseum

With the support of Art Bridges, the Delaware Art Museum (DelArt) exhibited "Estampas de la Raza: Contemporary Prints from the Romo Collection" organized by the McNay Art Museum. DelArt also used Art Bridges Learning and Engagement funding to activate the exhibition by hosting "Healing Through the Arts," a series of workshops taught by artist Cesar Viveros and a fashion show developed and organized by Juliet Zavala, artist-in-residence. Throughout the programs’ development, Art Bridges supported DelArt’s collaboration with the Center for Audience Research and Evaluation (CARE) at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to determine and measure outcomes for its visitors.
